INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK

IHN provides a very special and important ministry.  Families, usually single women with children, are provided a place to stay including meals for up to four months.  The key is that the children must be in school and the parent(s) must be working or going to school.  The very successful concept is that this provides the time for the parents to reach a place where they can get an apartment and graduate into independent living.

The churches' role, and St. Christopher's was one of the first to sign up, is to provide space for them to sleep, breakfast & dinner, and transportation to the day shelter.  The day shelter provides for showers and daytime supervision as needed.

St. Christopher's has been working with Christ UMC on this ministry.  Christ UMC has more room so they provide the sleeping space while we provide several of the dinners and some of the drivers.   Together we are responsible for four weeks each year.

Help is needed both to prepare & serve the meals, drive, and to stay overnight once.  Contact the church office, 869-5311, or email Ken at ken@st-christopher.org for more information.
